BONUS entry!

Aren't you lucky?

THIS ENTRY IS SPOILER FREE!

Now it's safe to say that I set the bar pretty damn high for this one. Telling you that I was NOT disappointed would be the understatement of the century. I completely feel in love with this movie and I think you will too.

Upon leaving the theater I sent out a mass text to my friends urging them to get their asses to the theater to see this. Most of the replies were from my pansy friends (who I love) saying they'd be too scared.

THIS MOVIE IS NOT SCARY.

Yes at times it gets tense but Mr. Button refuses to go see anything that might frighten or creep him out and he also loved this movie.

MR. BUTTON LIKED IT

My love for this movie was destiny, Mr. Button liking this movie really says something. I'm pretty sure the only movie we both actually like is The Dark Knight (and now, this one). Our tastes are typically at opposite ends of the spectrum.

THIS MOVIE IS HYSTERICAL.

At one point I was laughing to the point that tears were running down my face, now this may be because I have a sick and twisted sense of humor but even if you don't there are some intentionally and unintentionally funny moments that should induce a chuckle or two.

OMGWTFBBQ

I should probably explain that one. I've never seen a movie that had so many moments in it where I was taken aback and thought to myself WTF did I just see that? I was twitching in my seat like a baby monkey on crack.

NAKED

If you're guy this is probably a big selling point for you. From the trailer you can see it takes place during spring break, so be prepared for a severe amount of nudity, and severe might not be a strong enough word, seriously.

To tell you the truth this movie had my heart in the very first scene, if you're anything like me you'll understand when you see it and you'll be absolutely thrilled.

So this is my recommendation, RUN don't WALK to the local movie house and pay the money to see this. We saw it in 3D but honestly it would have been just as awesome without it.

And there was much rejoicing!

It's finally here, the day I've been waiting all summer long for.

No, I am not in any way shape or form being sarcastic.

From the very first moment I read an article about it I was stoked.
When the trailer came out I completely lost my mind.

Now, finally, the release date has arrived, tonight at 8pm I am going with Mr. Button and Duddits to see:

There are no words to express my joy. Today feels like Christmas. If for some reason you have no idea what I"m talking about I'm not sure we can be friend, but in an effort to salvage the relationship you just blew to smithereens check this out:

Clearly I don't expect this to be the next Citizen Kane but these are the kind of movies that complete my soul. I am of the opinion that everything SciFi has ever created is absolute gold. As long as you know how to watch these movies there's no way you shouldn't feel the same way.

Step 1: Do not take it seriously.
Step 2: Suspend all disbelife.
Step 3: Be prepared to for female nudity. (Sorry ladies, but as soon as I make my own this will change)
Step 4: Enjoy a cocktail.

If you follow those steps and still can't have a good time than we seriously need to reconsider this relationship.

Bonus Sexy.

I think it's fair to say that I'm pretty darn enamored with Mr. Button, that being said I am still human and  am not incapable of finding other attractive. This post is inspired by a recent conversation with some girlfriends about certain things that can make someone more attractive or as I like to call it bonus sexy. I know that it's different for everyone, these are my personal ones.

The first on my list is driving some sort of pick up truck or a jeep. I fancy all things rugged and take a look at that second picture, does it get anymore rugged than that?

Wearing a baseball hat is instant bonus sexy. Extra bonus if it's for a team that I'm fond of. This works for everyone but more so for certain individuals. For instance guys who are getting a bit older and perhaps not aging gracefully; such as Tiger Woods  who owes a great deal to the baseball hat.

I think most women share this one but I have to put it out there, being awesome with tots is some serious bonus sexy. This coming from someone who isn't even completely decided on their desire to reproduce.

GLASSES. I am a complete sucker for guys who wear glasses. I have no idea why and the style of glasses doesn't even matter.

This is another one that's pretty prevelant among the female populas. Some sort of musical inclination, writing, singing or playing is always impressive. The more the merrier.

Old Blue Eyes was sexy walking, even with a bow tie. A fondness for Frank Sinatra and similar song stylings is a ton of melt my heart bonus sexy.

The ability to grow a full beard but the self restraint not to. I love facial hair and not. An even five o'clock shadow is the #2 reason for bonus sexy.

This brings us to the #1 cause of bonus sexy...

SUITING UP! In twenty something years I have never encountered someone who does not ooze bonus sexy in a suit.

Do you share some of these? Do you have more interesting ones to add?

If you can't stand the heat....

I hope the week between invading my personal space wasn't too strenuous for the stalkers. Today you guys get to see where the magic happens!

No, not that magic, I'm talking about the venue that brings you all of Monday's blog posts: my kitchen!

If I had to make a list ranking how much time I spent in each room this would fall into the number two spot right behind the living room. Thankfully it is not a small room and I really think we've been able really make it our own minus a thing or two.

The strangest thing about this kitchen is that it is the only room Mr. Button & I have on the 1st floor of the house. The closed door you see with the paddle on it is the entrance to the office that we share the house with.

Yes, that is a bike in my kitchen, this is where it lives because there is no way that I am hauling it up and down the stairs whenever I want to use it.

This shot is pretty self explanatory, the only interesting part is that you can see the extent of the sunflower madness. *grumble*

The big "surprise" in this picture is in reference to, once again, the lack of paper towels. If I didn't know any better I would swear that Mr. Button EATS them. I pretty much go on strike whenever they run out because for everyone one sheet I use he uses and entire roll. Seriously go buy stock in paper towels now, as long as Mr. Button is around the industry is safe.

I'm not sure if you've noticed the sunflowers yet. If you haven't look again, stare at the picture until you start to feel queasy, then you will know you have found them. As it states above, they are are not my idea, they were here when we moved in. I hate them because I think they are stupid and on top of that whoever put them up did a crap job because they're starting to separate from the well. If we renew our lease we'd like to take care of that.

Don't for a moment fool yourself into thinking there are never dishes in my sink. 9 out of 10 times there are dishes in my sink. I just couldn't take pictures of dirty dishes though  so I compromised and promised to fess up and leave the evidence of my dish washing out to be captured.

I doubt you care about my collection of cookbooks or my pile of shoes because of that shining beacon of enchantment in all it's distracting glory. No need to feel guilty, I don't want to be associated with anyone who isn't excited by the thought of a secret compartment.

And here's what's inside! Gadgets. A waffle maker, blender, mini juicer, food processor, sandwich maker. All stuff I don't want sitting on my counter and couldn't figure out where to put. I highly recommend the waffle maker if you've been thinking about one, it's absolutely divine and very simple to use.

The umbrella is something hysterical by itself. No matter how close I get it to the back door it doesn't matter, I never remember. It currently sits in the spot my hand rests on when I balance myself while putting on shoes before I leave and it hasn't made a lick of difference. Putting it in my car isn't an option because that is not always my mode of transportation.

I love spices yes I do, I love spices how 'bout you?! The rack wasn't enough which is fine because we have this super handy ledge that we coudln't figure out anything else to do with. It makes cooking a lot easier because I don't like having to take the time to actually look for things.

This is not our pint glass collection, most of that is in the cabinets above the stove. These are simply the glasses that are too tall for the aforementioned cabinets and/or ones that Mr. Button wanted to display.

The toaster has an egg maker on it, though unfortunately that feature stopped working two years after I got it. Don't be sad though because right next to it is proof of my obsession with infomercials, the magic bullet, which I love and wish I'd gotten years earlier.

I haven't hit anyone with the Big Kahuna yet and I probably won't because my darling brother picked it up for me while he was in Hawaii, but just in case, don't test me.

My dislike of the sunflowers also makes an appearance and the scribbles may or may not be caused by that bottle on the table. The poor lonely little stool as the partner of the one that holds the laughing gnome shrine in my bathroom.

This is my favorite part of the kitchen: my pidgeon coop! It belonged to my Mema, she kept it in her basement forever and used it to store canned goods. I'm not sure that it ever actually held pidgeons but either way I think it is the neatest thing and way more charming than some free standing pantry I could pick up at walmart.

You can also see my cow broom which doesn't make sweeping any more fun, but at least it's something to giggle about while Mr. Button is sweeping.

You've also been afforded the opportunity to judge me on the dry food taht you can see in this picture.

Blank refridgeratiors make me sad. Mr. Button & I don't plan on reporducing anytime int he next millenium so we have to decorate the door ourselves. Granted neither of us our as talented as my biggest fans but I always smile when I see it.

However, I am known to stop smiling when I see expired coupons just sitting there when they're for things we buy often. If the mood strikes the chinse menu will provide the peace of mind though.

This is what you've been waiting for, a shot of the fridge, judge away. Feel free to question my plothera of mustard, I know I am.

If you're wondering that's rum in the freezer, so don't worry, it's not gone.

One more view just to make your judgment complete, feel free to take note of the suspiciously old girl scout cookies in the freezer.

So that's the grand tour, I hope you enjoyed it. Comments are welcome or share you own kitchen and/or kitchen stories.

[No sunflowers were harmed in the make of this post]

Just call me Ms. Pacbutton

Here's something you might not know about me, I LOVE ghosts. I like talking about them, reading stories about them, and even watching shows about them. Unless it's sports I actually don't watch much TV, I'd prefer to snuggle up with my laptop or a book but every week I make sure to sit down and watch Ghost Hunters  and not just because (despite his Red Sox fandom) I would run away with Steve Gonsalves in a heart beat.

I promise that Mr. Button is aware of this and does not feel threatened in the slightest for one simple reason. Trust? Love? Shackles? Maybe, but the fact of the matter is running away with me would absolutely kill his ghost hunting career. You see, for as much as I love ghosts they don't seem to love me in return.

I know, it's a hard pill to swallow. I may not be as cute as yesterday's piece of toast but  they don't call me Button for nothing and I'm already a muse. These are the things I put in my cover letter to show potential employers how fantastic I am for crying out loud!

The truth is that my entire life whenever I have gone somewhere where someone claims to have witnessed paranormal activity it all stops. Now, I'm sure on more than one occasion it was someone pulling my leg with a tall tale but I can't imagine that with everyone.

For example, I lived with my ex-boyfriend and his father for 3 years. His family claimed his house was haunted by the man who built it. His mother, his father, even his grandmother and some cousins said they had experiences there. Phantom smells, foot steps, shadows, being touched in the night, I think someone even claimed to have seen a man who couldn't possibly be there. As soon as I moved in everything seemed to stop, the only time I was ever spooked in the house was when I was alone in the house one morning and our cat rattled the bathroom door so loud while I was in the shower it sounded like someone was trying to turn the handle on the locked door. The kicker seems to be that the activity resumed shortly after I moved out.

This isn't to say that I don't scare easily. I can get paranoid as all hell when I'm home alone though I'm usually thinking about serial killers (another subject I'm fond of reading about) when I hear a creak in the hallway. If I happen to round a corner and nearly bump into someone I didn't expect to be there my heart won't beat regularly for five minutes after the incident. I'm not too fond of the dark unless I'm snuggled up in bed with Mr. Button and the thought of small spaces, bunnies, clowns, puppets or Christopher Walken gives me chills.

I'm sleeping with the light on tonight.

The haunted graveyard, haunted house, haunted patch of forest and haunted coffee shop that were all highly recommended to us while we were in high school never panned out. Places that have web forums dedicated to them that are teaming with stories about creepy experiences don't even give me goosebumps.   I'm well aware that most stories are probably exaggerations or complete fabrications but I'd rather not live in a world where everyone is completely full of it. Instead I'd prefer to entertain the idea that I've got some sort of built in ghost repellent.

It's probably for the best, I'm not sure how I'd survive baseball season with a red sox fan.

What about you? Any interesting ghost stories?

bonjour!

Sometimes for reasons you can't explain you find yourself at 11pm wanting french toast. This happened to me on Saturday night, I went into the kitchen and decided that I probably had all the stuff I needed but I couldn't for some reason remember how to put it all together. I chose to turn to the internet to make sure I wouldn't poison myself. As I typed "french toast" into my search bar something wonderful happened. The drop down menu appeared containing such treasures as french toast recipe, french toast bake, french toast uniforms and something that made a choir of angels sing, french toast casserole.

He's so adorable I just could not resist. It makes me wish my nickname was toast instead of button.

I wish I could tell you how long I spent going through recipes but I was so distracted by the promise of deliciousness that I lost all track of time (aka embarrassingly long). I wasn't looking for the perfect recipe, I was looking for the recipe that contained all the stuff I had in my kitchen. The one I found seemed do able if I made two minor tweaks: don't let it sit over night & put a cooking sheet over the dish instead of tinfoil. Thankfully I didn't have to do that second one, a friend stole one of my baking dishes so I contacted him demanding it back, oh and by the way can I have a piece of tin foil? I have awesome friends. I also made some adjustments to the liquid parts of the recipes (noted in parentheses) because the loaf of bread I had was called french toast bread which I think just means that the bread is twice as thick as it's supposed to be.
I know you're dying to make it yourself so without further yammering here we go.

Button's Middle Of The Night French Toast Casserole.

1/2 C Butter (3/4)
12  slices White Bread
1 C Brown Sugar
1 tsp Cinnamon or Baking Spice (2)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
5 eggs (6)
1 1/2 c Milk (2)

-Melt butter & pour in a 9X13 pan (I melt it in a measuring cup in the microwave)

-Mix together brown sugar & cinnamon (or baking spice)
-Wisk eggs, milk & vanilla together
-Layer bottom of pan with half the bread

-Sprinkle half brown sugar mix over the bread

-Layer second half of bread

- Sprinkle remaining brown sugar then pour egg mixture over all

-Cover & refrigerate overnight (or not)
-In the morning, cover with tinfoil and bake at 350 for 30 minutes

-Uncover and bake 15 more minutes (should be browned and set and delicious)

- Enjoy!

So, the verdict?
After adding a little bit of syrup and actually waiting for it to cool down Mr. Button called it "quite good" which for him is kind of a big deal and then later on said "good job". I happened to think it was outstanding and wouldn't change a single thing about the recipe. Leaving the crust on gave us 6 defined 2 piece stacks which made getting out out of the pan a tidy experience which is always a plus. I wouldn't make this every week because it's far from healthy but as far as treats go, it's a keeper.(And tastes good cold the next morning.)

Buttonites beware!

Since you're reading my blog I'm just going to assume that some part of you worships me. Don't argue, it's my blog, my rules. Well listen to me my little Buttonite you've got some competition. Not from one deciple but an set. They find me so wonderful that I am showered with gifts everytime they see me and lately I have inspired them so greatly that they've created a line of art in my honor.

So, if you're going to continue to worship me you're going to have to step up your game.

The Butterfly Pizza thing I inspired

A portrait of me in a rocket ship which is clearly his way of saying that I am out of this world.

This is clearly what I do to his insides whenever I enter a room.

He said this was a picture of a crab but even a half blind person could see i <3 you written in there.

And finally proof that I am so remarkable that my portrait must be done FIVE times in order to capture all of the marvelousness.

By the way, your competition is a set of five year old twins with identical twinkles in their eyes.
Consider it brought-en.
