Oh, she's crafty.

To date I currently have 143 pins on my craft ideas board on pinterest. Granted some of them are duplicates because all pins start to look the same at 3am and some of them are flat out not worth my time but I know I've got a lot really neat ideas in there. 

I've had about a month to adjust to my new schedule and it turns out I have a lot of free time. I'm lacking structure during the day so in an effort to get myself back on track I'm vowing to post about one craft project that I've done every week. If I haven't completed it I expect 50 lashings with a wet noodle. 

It's been a while since I've really done anything creative. The last thing that even comes close was painting the rooms in the cabin which probably counts more as manual labor. I've had some good ideas over the last 2 months but I've been passing them off on other people (usually my mother or the beef) to execute, so that doesn't count either.

Time to get the creative juices flowing. 

The way I see it is I've got about 6 months until Christmas, roughly 24 weeks, if I can bang out one idea per week I'll be stuffing the hell out of some stockings.

So what do you do with your free time? Any craft projects you'd like to see me tackle? 

Plaid Squares!

Something I love very much is plaid. I lucked out in that the beef is just as big a fan as I am. I was doing a test run of something I'd like to do as Christmas presents this year and ended up liking my practice run so much I made another one and they both now hang in our bedroom.

Since I didn't know I'd be blogging about the project I didn't take step by step pictures. None the less I'll try to describe the process as accurately as I can.

What you need to do it the way I did it:
Canvas
Square piece of fabric big enough to stretch over the canvas
8 1/2" x 11" piece of freezer paper
81/2" x 11" piece of regular paper
Scotch tape
A piece of cardboard
Computer/Printer
X-acto knife
Iron/Ironing board
Spray paint
newspaper

Step by step.

Chose the word or phrase that you want on your finished project.
Type it in to a word program in the format that you desire.
Using the tape attatched the two pieces of paper together before you feed them into the printer. Arrange the paper so that the words will be printed on the dull side of the freezer paper. Putting the freezer paper on the regular paper will stop it from jamming in the printer.
Print out your words and then cut them out with the x-acto knife.
Place the cardboard under the paper so you don't cute whatever surface you're using.
Remember to leave bridges on any of the letters that need them. (O's, A'S, e's etc) these will be removed later, for now if you don't do this then the letters will have big holes in them.
Once the phrase is cut out line up the freezer paper on the fabric.
Once the placement is to your liking iron the paper to the fabric, this will make it stick.
Once the paper is firmly in place you can cut out the bridges.
Iron the paper again to make sure the little pieces are in place, you may need to arrange them.
Bring the fabric/paper to a well ventilated area, cover the fabric that is exposed outside of the freezer paper with newspaper so it doesn't get paint on it.
Spray paint the freezer paper/fabric with as many layers as you deem necessary.
When the pain is dry peel off the freezer paper and remove the areas left by the bridges.
Staple the fabric to the canvas, and ta-dah! You're done.

Buttonites beware!

Since you're reading my blog I'm just going to assume that some part of you worships me. Don't argue, it's my blog, my rules. Well listen to me my little Buttonite you've got some competition. Not from one deciple but an set. They find me so wonderful that I am showered with gifts everytime they see me and lately I have inspired them so greatly that they've created a line of art in my honor.

So, if you're going to continue to worship me you're going to have to step up your game.

A portrait of me in a rocket ship which is clearly his way of saying that I am out of this world.

This is clearly what I do to his insides whenever I enter a room.

He said this was a picture of a crab but even a half blind person could see i <3 you written in there.

And finally proof that I am so remarkable that my portrait must be done FIVE times in order to capture all of the marvelousness.

By the way, your competition is a set of five year old twins with identical twinkles in their eyes.
